Lecturers from the department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), Prof. Geoffrey Kironchi, Prof. Moses Nyangito, Dr. Oscar Koech, Dr. Staline Kibet, Dr. George Karuku, attended a Pedagogy and Andragogy training at the University of Nairobi, Central Catering Unit. This training is geared to improving the quality of training for better training and curriculum development. The University of Nairobi is a centre of Excellency that aims at producing quality graduates who are well trained to provide excellent services to the community. The staff were trained on effective training methods, responsive curriculum development.

Dr S. Mugerwa signing vistors book in presence of Chairman LARMAT

Dr. Swidiq Mugerwa, a former PhD student in Dryland Resource Management, at the department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), visited the department on 13th June 2019. Dr. Mugerwa is the Director of Research at National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO), National Livestock Resources Research Institute (NaLIRRI) in Uganda. Dr. Mugerwa has been a close associate and major collaborator with the University of Nairobi, in promoting quality research and regional collaboration in drylands resource management, mainly in livestock production systems. Dr. Mugerwa has also remained a dedicated postgraduate external examiner for the University of Nairobi.

Mr. Victor Mugo, the country director, Climate Smart Agriculture Youth Network (CSAYN) and Partner from Acre Africa, Mr. Ian Kopar visited the department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT). He was received by Dr. Oscar Koech  on 14th June 2019. The department of LARMAT deals with training graduates specialized in drylands resource management, climate change adaptation and mitigation, land and water management, and climate smart technologies for improved production systems. CSAYN seeks partnership with the University of Nairobi to promote youth capacity development programmes

Five students; Mr. Mizero Jules from Rwanda, Mr. Mustafa Ibrahim from Somaliland, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed and Ahmed Qali from Somalia, Miss Beryl Awuor Oduor and Wafula Kelvin from Kenya undertaking Master of Science in Land and Water Management at the Department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT), University of Nairobi, presented their research proposal to staff and post graduate students on 27th June 2019. This is a process that provides technical guidance and support to Postgraduate students for high quality research geared to solving the many challenges in the Horn of Africa. The students showed high level research quality proposal as expected from the best University in the region. The department wishes them well as they embark to work with communities and address their needs for better land management and increased productivity for better food security and environmental health.

Three PhD students, Philemon Ngasike, Ahmed Musa and Bulle Dabasso from the department of Land Resource Management and Agricultural Technology (LARMAT) presented their research findings to stakeholders in Garissa County, on 11th June 2019 at Palm Oasis Hotel, Garissa. The feedback workshop was planned by African Drylands Institute for Sustainability (ADIS) with support of project funded by Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) through Roskilde in partnership with the University of Nairobi, African Drylands Institute for Sustainability. The meeting was attended by the University of University of Nairobi supervisor and mentors Prof. Jesse Njoka, Dr. Oliver Wasonga, Dr. Oscar Koech and John Makori from the state department of livestock Production.
