The University of Nairobi, Washington State University, and the International Livestock Research Institute recently received a grant from the United States Aid for International Development (USAID) under the Feed the Future Animal Health Innovation Lab. The Animal Health Innovation Lab will be based at the Department of Clinical Studies, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, University of Nairobi. The Grant has a provision for ten (10) Ph.D. scholarships and the successful candidates will register in various departments of the University of Nairobi.
The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Animal Health aims to improve human nutrition, economic welfare, and resilience by removing constraints to cattle health and production in Kenya and the East Africa region. This Animal Health Innovation Lab (AHIL) is led by Washington State University Paul G Allen School for Global Animal Health (WSU) in partnership with the University of Nairobi (UoN), the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), and scientists from Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO).
