Launch of 'The Great Millet Quest'

The University of Nairobi, Unilever and Farm to Market Alliance launched the ‘Great Millet Quest’ on Friday 26th January at Upper Kabete Campus. The competition seeks to bring out innovative and sustainable products from millet. The best competition targets students from the Faculty and the winner will walk away with 500,000 Shillings.

Millet is a nutritional powerhouse and it has the potential to reshape the future of sustainable farming in Africa and the world. The ‘Great Millet Conquest ‘seeks to bring out the potential of millet as one of the crops that can be used to develop sustainable Agriculture.

Unilever CEO, Luck Ochieng said that their nutritional brand Knorr will spearhead the inniative. He also said that he was looking forward to the various innovations from the students which will transform the traditional uses of Millet. Mr. Ochieng noted the potential of millet and urged students to become millet ambassadors.

Winners of the competition will get to work with the Unilever Future leaders programme. The competition runs from March 24th 2024.
