MARKING OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF AWARENESS OF FOOD LOSS AND WASTE (IDAFLW) 2023

The University of Nairobi, in collaboration with several organizations including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, will host the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW) 2023, on 29th September, 2023 in Taifa Hall at 9:00 am.

The event, themed 'Stop Food Loss and Waste: For the people. For the planet. For Wealth.', aims to emphasize the importance of sustainable food production and consumption (SDG 12) in enhancing food security and nutrition.  

The objectives for IDAFLW 2023 include raising awareness about the impact of food loss and waste, identifying policy and implementation gaps, showcasing ongoing initiatives, urging stakeholders to participate in reduction efforts, and presenting Kenya's Postharvest Management Strategy (2023–2028). The event will encompass diverse activities such as outreach programs, talk shows, and a formal event on September 29th with panel discussions and demonstrations on reducing food waste.
