The University of Nairobi is celebrating its 50 years of existence as the first university to be chartered in Kenya. This is to mark and celebrate the many achievements made during the period. The Faculty of Agriculture has been part of this journey and has contributed immensely to capacity development, research contribution and policy support for the country and the region.

UoN Talents Day

The University of Nairobi celebrated its first inaugural talent day which attracted many students and staff who showcased different talents from the different categories namely; music, singing and poetry, ICT and engineering innovation, arts design and fashion show, karate, taekwondo and dance, modeling, catwalk, Mr and Miss Talent day and other categories like bible citation, narrative/spoken word, instrumentals and news presenters.

Training of small-scale farmers and traders at the Food Processing Hub

The Strengthening Kenyan Small-scale Mango Processors to Access Market and Reduce Losses (SAP) Project team has embarked on a series of training and capacity building activities for mango farmers and processors in Kenya. The SAP project is a collaborative initiative between the University of Nairobi (UON) and Purdue University (USA) which is supported by the Rockefeller Foundation (Yieldwise initiative).

The linkage between the University and the alumni is critical in forging strong partnership and collaboration for quality capacity development. There has been a weak linkage between the learning institution and their alumni, which has impacted on efforts to strengthen partnership and development of initiatives that address the current needs.
